Cupar Wide Youth Group

Cupar Baptist and Young People

Cupar Baptist Church has a concern for the care and welfare of the children and young people in its midst. It offers a number of organisations and meetings designed especially for them and these are outlined below.  These organisations also offer opportunities for adults to give service as leaders.

Créche

  • Créche facilities during Sunday morning services

For children aged 0-4 years and staffed by volunteers.  If requested, babies can be looked after from 10:25am.  Otherwise, young children leave the service at the same time as Junior Church

Junior Church

  • For P1-P7 pupils, meeting during school term time.
  • Children join with the whole congregation at 10:30am and leave for their own teaching and pastoral group time before the sermon.

Junior Church is led by Caroline Rochford and staffed by volunteers who are on a rota for 2-4 weeks at a time. This approach to staffing Junior Church is deliberate and is designed to encourage the children to feel an integral part of the church.

Once children are attending Secondary School they remain in the Church for the sermon but join Junior Church children for the pastoral group time. Teaching specific to this age group is provided at UGC.

UGC

  • Aimed at P7-S3 pupils
  • Sunday evenings @ 6:30pm

UGC provides teaching appropriate to this age group. Young people attending UGC are encouraged to be involved in organising and planning the meetings.

Junior Christian Endeavour (CE)

  • Aimed at 7-11 year olds
  • Monday evenings @ 6:15pm until 7:30pm

Children leaving Junior CE at P7 are invited to join UGC.

Volunteers Working with Young People

Following Scottish Executive guidelines and recommendations for all youth organisations in Scotland, Cupar Baptist Church has adopted a policy regarding the recruitment and selection of adults acting as leaders in its children and young people’s meetings.

All volunteers/applicants for youth and children’s work, in or on behalf of the church, will be appointed by the Executive of Cupar Baptist Church after undergoing a Disclosure Check with CRBS.
